Quick answer: Every bounce house, combo, and water slide we rent runs on an electric blower that stays on the whole time kids play. To make that work, you need a regular electric outlet within about 50 feet of where the inflatable will sit. We bring the blower and an extension cord. If your spot has no power, ask us about adding a generator. The tips below just help party day go smoothly, whether you live in Gunter, Sherman, or anywhere else we serve in Texoma.
Why does a bounce house need power the whole time?
An inflatable isn’t filled up once like a pool float. A blower keeps pushing air in the entire party. That steady air is what keeps the walls firm and the floor bouncy. If the blower loses power, the unit starts to go soft within a short time. So the number one power rule is simple:
once the kids are inside, leave the blower plugged in and running. If you ever need to turn it off, have everyone climb out first.
How close does the outlet need to be?
Plan on an outlet within about
50 feet of the setup spot. Before we arrive, walk your yard and look for:
- An outside outlet on the back porch, patio, or garage wall
- An outlet just inside the garage, if the door can stay cracked open
- Any outlet that isn’t on the far side of a fence, pool, or flower bed
Not sure if it reaches? Snap a quick photo of your yard and the outlet and text it to us at
903-816-5486. We’d much rather sort it out by text on Tuesday than find a surprise on Saturday morning.
What do we bring, and what do you provide?
We bring: the blower, an extension cord, and the stakes or weights to anchor the unit. Our crew sets it all up and runs the cord.
You provide: a working outlet within about 50 feet, and a clear, safe path for the cord.
Simple power tips for party day
- Give the blower its own outlet if you can. Try not to share that outlet with a big cooler, a space heater, a popcorn machine, or a sound system. Too much on one circuit can trip a breaker in the middle of the party.
- Know where your breaker box is. If the power does blink off, get the kids out, then check the breaker. It’s usually a quick flip back on.
- Keep the cord out of the way. Run it along the edge of the yard, not across the main walking path. Little feet and party guests carrying plates both trip on cords.
- Don’t add your own cords or power strips. If you think you need more length, text us first so we can plan it the right way.
Renting a water slide? One extra rule
Water slide season is still hanging on in North Texas, and wet units use a blower too. With water in the mix, keep the outlet, the plug, and the cord connection up and away from puddles and the splash zone. Point the hose and the slide’s runoff away from where the cord runs. If you have a choice of outlets, pick the one on the dry side of the yard. You can see all of our wet units on the
water slide rentals page.
No outlet nearby? Ask about a generator
Parks, church fields, ball fields, and big country lots often don’t have power where the fun needs to happen. That’s okay. We rent a
generator that can run your inflatable. Just tell us when you book that there’s no outlet nearby, and we’ll help you plan it.
A Gunter example
Say you’re planning a backyard birthday on one of those wide lots in Gunter. The best grassy spot for the bounce house is out by the back fence, and your only outdoor outlet is on the back porch. Before you book, step off the distance. If it’s around 50 feet or less, you’re set. If it’s farther, text us a photo. We might suggest a slightly different spot closer to the house, or we’ll talk through adding a generator. Either way, you’ll know the plan before party day. Families in town can see what we offer on our
Gunter bounce house rentals page.
Frequently asked questions
Can I plug the blower into an outlet inside the house?
Often, yes, if it’s within about 50 feet and the cord can run safely through a door or window that stays open. Text us a photo and we’ll tell you if it works.
What happens if the power goes out during the party?
The inflatable will slowly go soft. Have everyone get out right away, check your breaker, and once power is back on, let the unit fill all the way back up before anyone climbs in.
Can you set up somewhere with no power at all?
Yes, with a generator. Let us know about it when you book so we can plan for it.
